A yet-to-be-titled “Spider-Man” movie has been set for release in Imax Theatres along with the film’s worldwide date on July 7, 2017.
Sony Pictures Entertainment is teaming with Marvel Studios to produce the sixth movie in its franchise, which has grossed $4 billion worldwide, reports variety.com.
Tom Holland will star as Peter Parker and Marisa Tomei will play his Aunt May.
Jon Watts is directing the franchise re-boot from a script by the team of John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein.
“Imax’s long-standing relationship with Marvel and Sony first began with ‘Spider-Man’ in 2002, establishing the ultimate way for fans to be transported into the world of their favourite characters like Peter Parker,” Imax’s Greg Foster said in a statement.
