Embassy of India in Kathmandu and the BP Koirala India-Nepal Foundation will be featuring noted social entrepreneur, architectural heritage expert, and cultural historian Anil Chitrakar
As part of their regular Voices series, the Embassy of India in Kathmandu and the BP Koirala India-Nepal Foundation will be featuring noted social entrepreneur, architectural heritage expert, and cultural historian Anil Chitrakar. At the event—the ninth so far in the series—which will take place in the Nepal-Bharat Library today at 4 pm, Chitrakar will be speaking on the topic ‘Entrepreneurship for Youth Engagement’, a subject he has often touched upon in his talks as well as in his book Take the Lead: Nepal’s Future Has Begun.
Chitrakar is a trained engineer and energy planner, although his interests and works have extended far beyond these realms. He has been awarded the Ashoka Fellowship, the Rolex Award and the Silicon Valley Tech Award, among many others, for his diverse contributions, and was named one of the ‘Global Leaders of Tomorrow’ by the World Economic Forum at DAVOS in 1993.
Chitrakar is also deeply invested in the preservation of built and living heritage around the country, alongside being involved in various environmental conservation efforts, including founding the Environmental Camps for Conservation Awareness (ECCA) and co-founding the Himalayan Climate Initiative.
With the talk at Voices, the versatile Chitrakar will zone in on the ideals of entrepreneurship and aim to motivate and guide young aspirants in their endeavours, turning to his own career to offer guidelines on how best to maximise potential and explore opportunities that are socially, economically and environmentally sustainable, while also keeping in mind ethical issues related to the same.
