Sacred Splendor brings the Valley’s living heritage under one roof

Intricate metal sculptures, wood engravings and traditional paubha paintings share the walls at Sacred Splendor, an exhibition marking the 39th anniversary of Siddhartha Art Gallery.
The show brings together works by 35 traditional master artists and looks at the centuries-old bond between art, faith and craftsmanship in the Kathmandu Valley.

Curated by Pradip Shakya, the exhibition places Hindu and Buddhist imagery side by side, reflecting the Valley’s long tradition of cultural coexistence. The works span media that have been passed down through generations of artisan families. Together they present the Valley’s sacred art as a living practice rather than a museum relic.
Sacred Splendor runs at Siddhartha Art Gallery, Babar Mahal Revisited, until November 6. The gallery is open from 11 am to 5 pm, and entry is free.
