Children, youths, women, and the elderly took to the streets, alleys, and homes to enjoy the festival. The festival is being marked in Tarai today, while it was observed in the hills on Thursday.
Public squares were filled with people dancing to songs while groups moved around celebrating with colours and music. Markets and rural areas were covered in colours, with shops selling Holi items witnessing heavy footfall.
Taulihawa and major commercial hubs like Krishnanagar and Chandranigahapur turned festive. Cultural expert Bikrammani Tripathi said Holi helps strengthen social bonds and spread joy.
People from all walks of life joined the celebrations. Meanwhile, police tightened security and carried out checks at various thoroughfares to prevent unruly behaviour and accidents.
