Shree Panchami celebrated across Nepal
Devotees worship goddess Saraswati for wisdom and new beginnings.Post Report
Shree Panchami, a festival dedicated to Goddess Saraswati, the deity of knowledge and creativity, is being celebrated across Nepal on Monday. Devotees believe that worshipping Goddess Saraswati on this day enhances wisdom and intellect.
Temples dedicated to Saraswati, including those in Swoyambhu, Maitidevi, Gairidhara in Kathmandu, and Lele in Lalitpur, have seen large crowds, especially students, since early morning. Many parents introduced their children to writing as part of the ‘akshararambha’ tradition, a ritual in which children are introduced to writing for the first time, which is thought to ensure educational success.
The day is also considered the beginning of spring, symbolising longer days and warmer weather, marking the arrival of the season.
