The 2568th Buddha Jayanti was observed nationwide on Thursday.

Buddhist monks, devotees and people from all walks of life thronged various other Buddhist shrines to offer prayers and mark the birth anniversary of Lord Gautam Buddha.

The day is celebrated in all Buddhist nations by paying obeisance and rejoicing in the enlightenment of Lord Gautam Buddha.

Lumbini, the birthplace of Lord Budhha, also marked the day with rituals and prayers for world peace at the Maya Devi temple.

The Kirat community also celebrated the Sakela Ubhauli festival today.
