Police crackdown on loan shark victims continued on Tuesday at Maitighar Mandala. As many as 30 of the protestors have been detained by the police.

Continuing their protest for the 42nd day, the victims marched towards Maitighar from Kirtipur. The police intervened in the march in Balkhu and stopped the protestors from proceeding toward Maitighar. However, half of them managed to reach the protest site.

The police have been mobilised since Monday to prevent the protestors from coming to Maitighar for sit-in protests, citing the arrival of Chinese National People’s Congress President Li Zhanshu, who is on a four-day visit to Nepal.

Police had cracked down on protestors on Monday too.

Several loan shark victims have come to Kathmandu from various districts of the Tarai region seeking justice for the financial crimes committed against them.
