After a long hiatus in the construction of Chabahil-Mitrapark road section in the Capital, the authorities have finally started mending the road that remained a nuisance for commuters.

The road was dug by Melamchi Water Supply Project (MWSP) for laying the water pipes to mitigate the problem of chronic water shortage in Kathmandu Valley.

The digging of roadsides to lay the pipelines has worsened the traffic congestion and air pollution on the road stretch. The fate of other roads of Kathmandu is similar.

In Chabahil, locals had taken to the streets and protested against the snail-paced work.

Recently, the authorities have started constructing the road to bring some respite to the commuters and local residents.
