Shree Panchami, also known as Basanta Panchami or Saraswati Puja, was observed across the country on Wednesday by worshipping Saraswati, the goddess of knowledge, wisdom, learning, art, music and culture.

Teachers and parents teach a child to write letters on the occasion of Saraswati Puja on Wednesday. Saraswati, the goddess of knowledge, wisdom, learning, art, music and culture, is worshipped on this day, which is observed on the fifth day of the waxing moon of the Nepali month of Magh. Also called Basanta Panchami, the occasion marks the beginning of Basanta Ritu, or the spring season. Students visit various Saraswati temples seeking blessings from Goddess Saraswati to excel in their endeavours.
