Three people died after a tree fell on a passenger bus and a scooter in Bhaktapur on Sunday.

According to the District Police Office, Bhaktapur, all three deceased have been identified. Of the deceased, two were passengers in the bus while one of the victims was the scooter rider.

When the accident occurred, the bus was travelling from Kathmandu to Dudhpati in Bhaktapur while the scooter was heading to Sallaghari from Bhaktapur.

Police informed that 12 others were injured in the accident. Of them, six are receiving treatment at Dr Iwamura Memorial Hospital while the others are receiving treatment at Madhyapur Hospital and Bhaktapur International Hospital, said police.

The bodies of the deceased have been taken to Dr Iwamura Memorial Hospital for postmortem.
