Top court gets new chief registrar
The Judicial Service Commission has elevated secretary of the Judicial Council Nripadhwoj Niroula to the chief registrar of the Supreme Court. A commission meeting held on Tuesday evening under Chief Justice Cholendra Shumsher Rana also decided to appoint Devendra Raj Dhakal as secretary of the Judicial Council.The Judicial Service Commission has elevated secretary of the Judicial Council Nripadhwoj Niroula to the chief registrar of the Supreme Court. A commission meeting held on Tuesday evening under Chief Justice Cholendra Shumsher Rana also decided to appoint Devendra Raj Dhakal as secretary of the Judicial Council.
Chief Registrar of the apex court Rajan Bhattarai was appointed as the Justice of High-Court on Monday. Niroula, who had sent the then chief justice Gopal Parajuli home in the capacity of JC secretary, was rewarded with the promotion. He had issued a letter saying that Parajuli’s term as the chief justice was over as per his date of birth. The incident remained significant in the history of Nepal’s judiciary with JC secretary deciding the term of its chairperson.
The council led by Chief Justice Rana includes Law Minister and Attorney General as members besides Chairman of Public Service Commission. Meanwhile, High-Court Judge Rajan Bhattarai and Executive Director of Judicial Academy Tap Bahadur Magar were administered oath of office and secrecy on Wednesday.
