Incidents of blast and attack on election rallies have continued in different districts.
On Monday, an improvised explosive device (IED) was detonated targeting a vehicle belonging to Narendra Sah, an independent candidate for the federal parliament from Sarlahi-3, in Sarlahi.
Sah was heading towards Karmaiya from Hajariya on a jeep (Na 2 Cha 2019) when the IED went off near a stream, three kilometres from the East-West Highway. There were no casualties, said police, adding that the IED went off a few metres from the vehicle.
Similarly in Kailali, a bomb disposal squad of the Nepal Army defused an IED planted near a hotel where Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba was staying.
The explosive was planted at a bridge, some 400 meters from Hotel Devotee in Dhangadi, said police.
SP Binod Ghimire said a sniffer dog had detected the IED.
PM Deuba was staying at the hotel as he was campaigning in the far-western region.
In Bardiya also an IED was detonated near the house of Keshav Poudel, a Naya Shakti Party Nepal candidate, at Basagadhi Municipality-5 on Monday evening. “The explosive went off soon after I entered the house,” Poudel told the Post.
In yet another incident, an unidentified group hurled IEDs targeting Nepali Congress (NC) candidate for the federal parliament Surendra Raj Acharya at two separate places at Buddhabhumi Municipality in Kapilvastu on Sunday night. There were no casualties, said police.
4 pistols, 39 bullets seized
TANAHUN: Police have arrested three persons in possession of four pistols and 39 bullets from Aanbukhaireni-3 in Tanahun.
DSP Sunil Malla said Abhiyan Shrestha, Jaya Gurung and Bijay Gurung were held with the arms and ammunition.
Acting on a tip-off, security personnel raided Shrestha’s house and seized the weapons. Investigation is underway, said police.
