Nepali Congress General Secretary Prakash Man Singh has stressed on the need of passing the Constitution Amendment Bill at the earliest for resolving the conflicts of the Terai-Madhes region.
Speaking at a tea reception organised today by the Nepali Congress Constituency No. 1 Committee on the occasion of Bijaya Dashami festival, he said the Bill tabled in the Parliament by the erstwhile government led by the Nepali Congress could not be passed due to various reasons and pointed out the need of ratifying the Bill immediately for ending the Madhes agitation.
Singh, who was the Deputy Prime Minister in the NC-led erstwhile government, challenged the propaganda spread by certain parties against the Nepali Congress president and former Prime Minister Sushil Koirala that he contested the prime ministerial election due to his greed for power. He said that the Nepali Congress is always committed for the institutionalised development and consolidation of democracy.
Leader Singh stated that his party would field its candidacy for the election to the post of the President and discussions were being held with other parties for the same. RSS
