The Nepal Police have started monitoring social media platforms like Facebook after coming across a slew of fake pictures and posts about Tikapur incident.
Police Spokesperson DIG Kamal Singh Bam said a monitoring unit is formed to collect information on the images and posts about Tikapur riot on social media sites.
“People who are found posting images and statuses that could provoke communal violence, religion-based hatred and social harmony will be booked,” DIG Bam said.
He further said that police have also received complaint from many of its senior officers, including SSP Ramesh Kharel, whose identities are being used to post provocative messages about Tikapur incident on Facebook.
