Final rites of late Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Laxman Neupane, killed during the violent demonstration in Kailali district, was performed with state honours at Pashupati Aryaghat on Tuesday.

At least eight people, mostly security personnel including SSP Neupane, and a two-year-old boy died when demonstrators protesting against proposed seven-state model clashed with police in Tikapur on Monday.
Along with Neupane's body, several other policemen injured in the Kailali riot were also ferried to the Capital for treatment.
The body of SSP Neupane was flown from Kailali to Kathmandu in a helicopter today. His body was kept at Gaushala Police Station for final tributes. Relatives, well-wishers, Nepal Police, APF and Nepal Army personnel and leaders from across political spectrum were present during the funeral.
SSP Laxman Neupane, the chief at Seti Zonal Police Office, Inspector duo Balaram Bista and Keshav Bohara, head constable Laxman Khadka and Constable Lokendra Chanda of Nepal Police were killed in the incident. Similarly, senior head constable Lalit Saud and constable Ram Bihari Chaudhary of Armed Police Force (APF) died in the clash. Two-year-old Tek Bahadur Saud, the son of APF’s senior head constable, succumbed to bullet injuries.
The final rites of the other deceased were performed in their respective districts.
