Lalitpur DAO set to go digital
The District Administration Office (DAO) is starting a digital display board system from Tuesday in a bid to make service delivery more effective and less time consuming.Kaushal Ghimire
According to Chief District Office of Lalitpur Yadhav Prasad Koirala, the 42-inch digital board will contain information on acquiring citizenship or passport, the room numbers of different sections and the citizen charter.
“The digital board has a small dialler attached to it. Every number in the dialler is assigned to inform you about a specific topic,” Koirala explained. “For example, if you press 1, it gives you information on the citizenship section, press 2 for the passport section, and so forth.” He believes the new system will make it easier for the service seekers to know what to do and whom to contact.
The board will have information on security provisions, contact information of the DAO employees, news
on accidents, opening of tenders, scrolling on the bottom of the screen. It will also have brief information on Lalitpur’s cultural and natural heritages.
The DAO is planning to add a map of the district and contact information of different governmental and non-governmental offices in the district, Koirala said, adding that the display board is part of a larger plan to digitalise the services provided by the DAO and make it hassle-free.
“We already have 12 CCTV cameras installed on the DAO premises, along with a fully-functioning website. We have received lots of positive feedbacks regarding the website which is user friendly. The cameras are also helping us keep constant tab on things happening inside the DAO premises,” he said.
