NNIPA Sports Awards scheduled for March 1

Nepal National and International Players' Association (NNIPA) is set to organise the annual NNIPA Sports Award on March 1 on the Bajrabarahai Temple premises in Lalitpur.
The event, to be sponsored by Godavari Municipality, will honour sportsperson of various 27 games and others, the organisers said on Thursday.
NNIPA president Dipak Shrestha said they decided to choose the players of 27 games authorised by the Nepal Olympic Committee as very few games were held owing to the Covid-19 pandemic. The players will be awarded as per the recommendation by their respective sports associations on the basis of their performance at the domestic and international levels.
Each of the 27 players will be given the purse of Rs10,000 and trophy. One best male and female player among them will get NNIPA best male and female player awards and Rs100,000 each.
Besides, a male and a female player will be recognised as best talents and emerging players. They will get Rs50,000 each. A senior sportsperson to have dedicated their life to the development and promotion of Nepali sports will be conferred the Gajaraj Joshi Ideal Player Award. The winner of the award will get Rs35,000 from the Gajaraj Joshi Trust.
A sports journalist will be given the NNIPA Sports Journalism Award along with Rs25,000 cash. In another category, the para athlete awardee of the year will get Rs10,000.
For other awards than those recommended by 27 sports associations, NNIPA has formed a selection committee led by former president Deepak Bista.
