Landside halts traffic on Kaligandaki Corridor.

Three major roads, including the Kaligandaki Corridor, have been blocked in Gulmi due to continuous rainfall since Tuesday morning, the District Police Office, Gulmi, said on Wednesday.
A landslide in ward 2 of Kaligandaki Rural Municipality blocked the highway. A landslide in ward 4 of Satyawati Rural Municipality has blocked traffic on the Rudrabeni-Wami section of the Butwal-Burtibang road, while rising waters from Dharekhola in ward 6 have flooded the road.
The Ridi-Tamghas road is blocked in ward 3 of Rurukshetra Rural Municipality. Only the Ridi-Tamghas road has an alternative route.
Repeated closures on the Kaligandaki Corridor have caused major difficulties for local commuters and travellers. On the Gulmi stretch, roads in Kaligandaki Rural Municipality wards 1, 2, and 3 are frequently obstructed.
The Dharekhola section of the Ridi-Wami road is part of the Rudraveni-Wami stretch of the Butwal-Burtibang road. When the river swells, it brings black silt and mud, often erasing the road completely. This rainy season, the Dharekhola has repeatedly blocked traffic, affecting both public and private vehicles.
Authorities are currently working to clear the roads, said Deputy Superintendent of Police Narayan Prasad Adhikari, chief of the District Police Office, Gulmi.
