20 injured in multiple-vehicle crash in Chitwan

As many as 20 people were injured in a collision involving eight vehicles in Bharatpur Metropolitan City-9 along the East-West Highway on Wednesday.
Chitwan police said seven of the injured are in serious condition.
According to the Chitwan District Police Office, a college bus, a jeep, four motorcycles and two scooters were involved in the accident at noon.
Deputy Superintendent of Police Bijaya Raj Pandit said the college bus heading to Ratnanagar from Narayanghat hit a jeep travelling to Devghat from Ratnanagar at first. Then, motorcycles and scooters collided head-on, resulting in multiple injuries, he said.
Among the injured, 12 people are receiving treatment at a government hospital in Bharatpur. Seven others are being treated at the College of Medical Sciences and one at the Chitwan Medical College in Bharatpur.
Police have detained 26-year-old Ashish Pariyar, the driver of the college bus, of Gaindakot-9 in Nawalparasi.
