A dry landslide has blocked the Narayanghat-Muglin road since Tuesday afternoon, disrupting traffic along one of the country’s busiest highways.
According to the District Police Office, Chitwan, the landslide occurred near Tuhin Khola in ward 5 of Ichchhakamana Rural Municipality, where debris fell from the hillside onto the road.
Deputy Superintendent of Police Rabindra Khanal, the spokesperson for the District Police Office, Chitwan, said clearance work is underway but reopening may take time. Authorities have mobilised equipment to remove the debris.
The Narayanghat-Muglin road is a key transport corridor connecting the capital Kathmandu and the tourist city of Pokhara with eastern and western parts of the country. It frequently faces disruptions due to landslides, especially during the monsoon season.
