Parsa police have arrested three people for allegedly murdering their friend over a gambling-related dispute.
The arrested individuals are Mukesh Prasad Yadav, Arun Kumar Yadav, and Muna Tiwari, all residents of ward 27 of Birgunj Metropolitan City.
According to police, they killed their friend Ishal Prasad Kurmi following a dispute over money while playing cards. Investigations revealed that the trio murdered Kurmi and dumped his body in the Bhedaha River.
Superintendent of Police Gautam Mishra said 19-year-old Kurmi, a resident of ward 27 of Birgunj, left home on February 19, saying he was going to work. When he did not return by late night, his family filed a complaint at the Parsa District Police Office the next day.
On February 22, police recovered Kurmi’s body floating in the Bhedaha River. Investigations found that he had an argument with his friends over Rs3,500 while gambling, which led to his murder. The court has extended the custody of the three suspects by six days for further investigation.
