One dead, 42 injured as bus plunges off bridge in Bara

One passenger died, and 42 others were injured after a bus plunged off a bridge in ward 8 of Nijgadh Municipality, Bara, along the East-West Highway on Sunday night.
Six of the injured are in critical condition and are receiving treatment at Nepal Mediciti Vayodha Hospital in Birgunj.
The bus, travelling from Biratnagar to Dang, lost control and fell about 10 metres off the bridge.
According to Police Inspector Sumit Kushwaha, the deceased has been identified as 45-year-old Chetan Raya Yadav of Deukhuri, Dang. He succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment at the hospital.
An investigation into the accident is underway.
