Haribhushan Kushwaha, chief of the Kalaiya-based Mohan Bikram Ramraja Multiple Campus, was shot dead on Friday.

The victim was travelling towards Kalaiya when he was attacked by a group of unidentified assailants in ward 3 of Adarsha Kotwal Rural Municipality on Friday afternoon, police said.

Kushwaha was rushed to the Nepal Mediciti Vayodha Hospital in Birgunj where he was pronounced dead, said Badhiram Neupane, spokesperson for the Bara police.

Search for the suspects is underway.
