Four dead in Okhaldhunga landslide
The landslide in Champadevi rural municipality swept away three houses.Kumbharaj Rai
Four people died in a landslide that occurred at Champadevi Rural Municipality in Okhaldhunga district on Thursday night. The landslide also swept away three houses in Bilandu.
According to the police, Rana Bahadur Gurung, 36, his wife Shiva Maya Gurung, 31, and their two children died after the landslide destroyed their house.
Gurung’s 10-year-old son and 18-month-old daughter had gone missing following the disaster.
Deputy Superintendent of Police Deepak Bahadur KC of the District Police Office said that effort to recover the body of the children, which the police found a few moments ago, is underway.
District Police Office informed that two other houses of Bal Bahadur Gurung and Jarsingh Gurung, were also swept away during the landslide.
KC said that although the houses were swept away there were no additional human casualties as the members of the house left the houses before the disaster struck.
A team of Nepal Police and Armed Police Force have reached the incident site and are conducting rescue along with the locals.
