Floods triggered by heavy rain on Tuesday night have blocked two major roads in Panchthar district.
According to the District Police Office, Panchthar, the Mechi Highway was obstructed after floodwaters from the Hewa river overflowed the diversion, damaging the road on both sides. Road Division Office Ilam supervisor Dambar Mishra said two excavators are working to repair the road, which will take a few hours.
Similarly, the Phidim–Nangin—Phalaut road has been blocked after floodwaters from the Pheme river damaged it. The Infrastructure Development Office, Panchthar, is working to reopen the road, which could take about three hours.
