NDTV World is set to launch “NDTV Anviksha: Ideas Across Borders”, a global conversation series aimed at creating a deeper understanding between countries by allowing them to articulate their own ideas, ambitions, anxieties and perspectives.

The inaugural edition, “The India-Nepal Dialogue”, will be held in Kathmandu on Thursday, bringing together political leaders, policymakers, diplomats, business leaders, strategic thinkers and cultural figures from Nepal and India.

Kantipur Media Group will be the Nepal media partner for the initiative, bringing together the reach of two major South Asian media organisations. Kantipur TV will broadcast the event to audiences in Nepal.

According to NDTV, the initiative seeks to move beyond familiar narratives and assumptions about countries by creating conversations rooted in inquiry, reflection and listening. The name Anviksha draws from the ancient Indian tradition of “anvīkṣikī”, which refers to the pursuit of understanding through reason, reflection and examination.

The series will travel across countries, placing a nation at the centre of each edition and examining its history, identity, lived realities and ambitions alongside broader geopolitical and economic developments.

The Nepal dialogue comes as the country undergoes political, economic and social changes while seeking to define its place in a changing Asian and global order. The discussions will explore Nepal’s economic ambitions, entrepreneurial activity, democratic evolution and the aspirations of its young population, as well as opportunities in technology, tourism, infrastructure, sustainability, trade and regional cooperation.

Participants include Foreign Minister Shisir Khanal, Finance Minister Swarnim Wagle, Nepali Congress President Gagan Thapa, Sumnima Udas, chair of the International Relations and Tourism Parliamentary Committee, and Indian Ambassador to Nepal Naveen Srivastava.

Rabi Lamichhane, founder and chair of the Rastriya Swatantra Party, will also participate, alongside Indian parliamentarian and author Shashi Tharoor, India Foundation President Ram Madhav, BJP leaders Vinay Sahasrabuddhe and Vijai Chauthaiwale, and business representatives.

Cultural and sporting figures, including actor Manisha Koirala, actor and television host Rajesh Hamal, and former cricketer Paras Khadka, among others, will also join the dialogue.

The discussions will examine Nepal’s relationship with India beyond conventional formulations of bilateral ties and consider the ideas that could shape its engagement with India, the region and the wider world, NDTV said.

NDTV World Editor Naveen Kapoor said the dialogue would seek to understand countries through their own perspectives, priorities and aspirations.

“Anviksha takes that idea forward by creating conversations that allow us to understand countries through their own perspectives, priorities and aspirations. As the world navigates profound geopolitical and economic shifts, there is a need to look beyond familiar narratives and engage more deeply with how nations see themselves and each other,” Kapoor said. “The India-Nepal Dialogue is the beginning of that journey. At the very heart of the dialogue is a simple but important question: not only how does the world see Nepal, but how does Nepal see the world?”
