The Government of Nepal has urged its citizens residing or working in Iran to leave the country as soon as possible due to developing security and political concerns.
“Nepali nationals currently residing or working in Iran are advised to leave the country at the earliest possible opportunity through any available means,” a notice issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) on Sunday said. “Nepali citizens in Iran are also requested to keep their travel documents, including passports and identity cards, ready for a safe and timely emergency exit.”
The ministry also recommended that “in light of the situation, Nepali citizens defer any plans to travel to Iran until circumstances return to normal.”
The advisory reminded citizens to follow the earlier travel advisory issued on 13 January 2026 and to remain in contact with the Ministry in Kathmandu or the Nepalese Embassy in Doha for coordination and assistance.
