Lightning strikes kill two youths in separate incidents

Two young men lost their lives in separate lightning strikes this week, as severe weather continues to affect various parts of the country.
In Kailali district, 26-year-old Upendra Bahadur Shahi died on Thursday after being struck by lightning while walking through a field in Gauriganga Municipality-2, Jhila. According to the Area Police Office, Malakheti, the incident occurred at around 11:50 am, and Shahi died on the spot. No other injuries were reported.
Similarly, in Makwanpur district, 22-year-old Kanchha Gole died on Wednesday evening after being struck by lightning during a thunderstorm in Kitbhanjyang, Kailash Rural Municipality-9. He was sitting in the yard of his house when the lightning struck, killing him instantly, the District Police Office, Makwanpur, confirmed.
Due to the remote location of the Makwanpur incident, a police team was dispatched to the area on Thursday morning for further investigation.
According to local authorities, four people have died and nine others have been injured by lightning in Makwanpur district alone during the current fiscal year.
