Three arrested for allegedly duping job seekers

Police have arrested three individuals on charges of defrauding job seekers by luring them with promises of lucrative foreign employment in the United Kingdom and Canada.
The arrestees have been identified as Rabindra Basukala, 44, of ward 2 of Bhaktapur Municipality; Laxman Parajuli, 44, originally from ward 10 of Ratuwamai Municipality, Morang, and currently residing in Saraswatinagar, Kathmandu Metropolitan City-6; and Arun Raj Sharma, 47, of ward 12 of Sabaila Municipality, Dhanusha, currently residing in Narephant, Kathmandu Metropolitan City-32.
According to the Kathmandu Valley Crime Investigation Office in Teku, Basukala was apprehended on Monday from Byasi, Bhaktapur, while Parajuli and Sharma were arrested on Sunday from Narephant, Kathmandu.
Police said Basukala allegedly took Rs560,000 from one individual by promising a job in Canada, while Parajuli and Sharma collected a total of Rs110.697 million from 38 individuals by claiming to send them to the UK. All three later became unreachable, prompting victims to file complaints.
The suspects have been sent to the Department of Foreign Employment in Tahachal, Kathmandu, for further investigation and legal proceedings.
