Policeman dies in van accident in Sunsari
The police officer, stationed in Udayapur, succumbed to injuries after the vehicle lost control and hit roadside railings.

Assistant Sub-Inspector of Police Birodh Khatriwada, aged 30, died in a van accident at Futani Chowk in Duhabi Municipality-3, Sunsari, on Saturday morning.
According to Superintendent of Police Binod Ghimire of the Highway Safety and Traffic Management Office, Itahari, the accident took place at 11:50 am when the pickup van, travelling from Udayapur to Duhabi with household goods, went out of control and crashed into an iron railing at the roadside.
Khatiwada, who was seriously injured in the accident, was rushed to Birat Teaching Hospital but was pronounced dead during treatment at 12:21 pm. He was stationed at the Udayapur District Police Office and had been assigned from there from Kathmandu.
The driver, Suresh Karki, 38, of Chaudandigadhi Municipality-6, and his 14-year-old daughter Rozina Karki, were also injured in the crash.
Police said Karki sustained injuries to his head, chest, and other parts of his body, while Rozina’s condition is not life-threatening.
The police have launched an investigation into the incident.
