Nepali Congress general secretary and lawmaker Bishwa Prakash Sharma has successfully scaled Lobuche Peak (6,119 metres) in the Khumbu region, accompanied by five young climbers.
The expedition began on December 6 and culminated in the team reaching the summit at 6:45 am on Friday.
Sharma said that by climbing the peak he aimed to draw larger attention to nine significant themes including raising awareness about climate change, honouring mountaineers, prioritising tourism development, strengthening trust in Parliament, envisioning a pure and harmonious Nepali society, promoting political transformation for national prosperity.
Similarly, the Nepali Congress general secretary said that combating corruption and irregularities, addressing delays in infrastructure development, and fostering an inclusive, stable parliamentary system for progress and prosperity were also the issues meant to be raised through the climb.
