A complaint lodged against Energy, Water Resources, and Irrigation Minister Deepak Khadka by Nepal Scouts has been distributed to lawmakers in the State Affairs and Good Governance Committee of the House of Representatives on Tuesday.
The complaint, filed on January 28, 2024, accuses Khadka’s company, Khadka Land Development Pvt Ltd, of failing to pay over Rs50 million in rent for the use of the Scouts’ property.
In Tuesday’s committee meeting, chairperson Ram Hari Khatiwada confirmed that the complaint was circulated among committee members nearly 10 months after its registration. “The complaint submitted by the Scouts regarding unpaid dues for property usage by minister Khadka’s company has been shared with lawmakers,” he said.
The committee has also sought additional documents from Nepal Scouts to substantiate the allegations. “We have asked for details, including the outstanding amount, the status of the case, and interest owed by Khadka’s company, to be submitted by Wednesday,” Khatiwada said.
The case has drawn significant attention as questions are being asked about ministerial accountability and use of public property.
