Six industries previously affected by power cuts imposed by the Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) will receive power starting Tuesday evening.
The Electricity Regulatory Commission has directed the power authority to initiate the resumption today.
According to Commission sources, these industries will receive power on the condition that they settle their tariff arrears within three months, along with additional fines.
“The industries with overdue payments will have electricity restored from Tuesday, with the provision of additional fines if they fail to clear their arrears within three months,” the authority said.
In compliance with the Electricity Regulatory Commission's directive, electricity will commence from Tuesday evening.
Despite opposition from two members of the Commission's Executive Committee, the majority agreed to reconnect electricity lines to the industries.
Directors Kapil Acharya and Bhakta Bahadur Pun opposed the decision, advocating for adherence to previous Council of Ministers' directives requiring industries to clear arrears before restoring power.
Since July 9, six industries, including Reliance Spinning Mill, Ghorahi Cement, Arghakhanchi Cement, Jagdamba Steel, Jagdamba Synthetic, and Hulas Steel, have faced power cuts. On June 24, the NEA instructed 61 industries to clear their dues within 15 days.
