Kathmandu
Locals on Friday protested against the sidewalk widening being carried out in New Road by the Kathmandu Metropolitan City.
As per the metropolis’ expansion plan, work to widen sidewalks by 1.5 metres along both sides of the road section between the New Road Gate and the Juddha Statue roundabout resumed on Wednesday following the Patan High Court’s interim order issued on Sunday.
The locals, along with Kathmandu-18 chair Nhuchhe Kaji Maharjan and ward-22 chairman Chini Kaji Maharjan, protested after the KMC prepared to widen the sidewalks southwards of the Juddha Statue roundabout, towards Dharmapath.
Here are some photos of the protest captured by Post photojournalist Angad Dhakal.
