The World Social Forum 2024 has been scheduled to be held in Kathmandu from February 15-19.
Issuing a press release on Friday, the WSF organisers in Kathmandu said that the event would facilitate dialogue exchanges among civil society organisations, social movements, trade unions, and individuals to challenge neoliberal globalisation and promote a more equitable and sustainable world.
“The 2024 forum in Kathmandu represents a significant milestone, showcasing the resilience and diversity of global solidarity movements,” the press statement reads.
The five-day event will focus on issues of economic inequality, climate justice, labour, migration, caste discrimination, gender equality, peace, and sustainable development among others.
“The forum will feature thematic panels, self-organised activities, cultural programmes, and opportunities for networking and collaborative actions,” the WSF said.
The series of panels will focus on topics such as “climate justice and environmental sustainability”, “economic inequality and the global financial system”, “labour rights and migration”, “peace, justice and human rights” and “indigenous peoples’ rights and cultural preservation”.
As per the press statement, 1188 organisations have registered from 91 countries with 379 activities as of February 6, 2024.
