Nepal Army, US Army Pacific to co-host disaster response exercise

A total of 270 disaster response professionals from different countries will attend the disaster response exercise and exchange in Nepal from November 6 to 10.
The event to be co-hosted by the Nepal Army and United States Army Pacific (USARPAC) will be attended by 210 people from Nepal’s government and non-government agencies involved in disaster management, 44 from USARPAC and 16 others from India, the Maldives, Mongolia, Thailand, Sri Lanka, Canada and the United Kingdom.
Expert academic discussions and tabletop exercise sessions of this training exercise are planned to be conducted at Hotel Marriott in Kathmandu and field training exercise in Chitwan district, Nepal Army Directorate of Public Relations and Information said in a statement on Friday.
The training exercises have been conducted since 2011 to enhance disaster response capacity by exchanging experience in the field of disaster management and humanitarian assistance, according to the statement.
This type of joint exercise will help in developing cooperation, goodwill and coordination between countries and various agencies as well as enhancing disaster management capacity, the national army said.
