A 5.5-magnitude earthquake struck Jajarkot at 8:10pm on Friday, following an earlier tremor of 5.2 magnitude recorded at 8:07pm, according to seismologist Shiva Subedi.
The epicentre was located near Paink in Jajarkot district. While no reports of damage or casualties have been received, residents in nearby districts, including Dolpa, reported strong shaking.
Locals in Tripurasundari Municipality-1 said the second tremor felt stronger than the first, causing fear and prompting people to rush outside seeking safe places. Authorities are monitoring the situation and gathering further details.
