The health condition of President Ramchandra Paudel, who is undergoing treatment at the New Delhi-based AIIMS Hospital, is improving, according to the Embassy of Nepal in New Delhi.
“According to the doctors and medical officers attending to the President, his health condition is improving,” the embassy said in a press statement issued on Thursday.
President Paudel, who has been suffering from chest infection, was airlifted to India on Wednesday on a Shree Airlines chartered flight for further treatment. Before that, he had been hospitalised in Kathmandu, for the second time in less than three weeks.
A medical team under Dr Anant Mohan, a pulmonologist, started Paudel’s treatment upon his arrival at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in New Delhi on Wednesday morning.
He has been admitted to the hospital’s VVIP intensive care unit.
Last week, the President complained of pain in his stomach. A Cabinet meeting on Tuesday decided to deploy a team of government officials, led by the health secretary, to facilitate his treatment.
