Pashupati Shamsher Rana, a lawmaker from the Rastriya Prajatantra Party, has taken the oath of office and secrecy from the President on Wednesday afternoon.

President Bidya Devi Bhandari administered the oath to Rana, 81, as the senior member of the House of Representatives.

Rana will administer the oath to the federal lawmakers in the House on Thursday at 1 pm. Similarly, Rana will preside over the House until the Speaker is elected.

Rana has secured the post of lawmaker through the proportional ballot.
