Jumla reeling from Thursday’s clash over Dr KC

The Nepal Student Union also shut down all educational institutions in Jumla. The protest was largely supported by the people in the district.Dr KC had been staging indefinite hunger strike in Khalanga for the past 20 days, demanding reforms in the country’s medical education system.
On Thursday, the security forces barged into Karnali Academy of Health Sciences, where Dr KC had recently been shifted by his supporters, and took him to Kathmandu by force.
Clashes erupted on the academy premises, as Dr KC’s supporters tried to stop the security forces. Several people were injured. The academy building was left ransacked. On Friday, the academy staff and students were still reeling from the violence that transpired there a day before. Kantika Sejuwal, the mayor of Chandannath Municipality, said what happened on Thursday will forever be remembered by the people of Jumla as a dark day.
