Vehicular movement in Bahrabise-Kathmandu road section along the Araniko Highway has been obstructed following landslides triggered by torrential rainfall at Mahabhir and Jure of Sindhupalchok district.
The key road to Kathmandu from Bahrabise and Tatopani of Sindhupalchok started caving in at Mahabhir and Jure section for the past four days.
According to the Area Police Office, Bahrabise, the hills adjacent to the road in Jure started falling from this morning. The debris has not been cleared yet, police said.
“The road has been completely covered by the landslide debris,” Inspector Pancha Kumar Bakhu, who had reached the incident site to help stranded passengers, said, adding, “It could take a lot of time to clear the landmass.”
“It is risky for people to walk around the area. Patients are stuck mid-way,” he said.
People, who were heading towards Bahrabise and Tatopani from the Capital, have been left in lurch due to blocked roads.
