Classes have been affected Kathmandu University (KU) for the past 11 days due to the ongoing strike by the All Nepal National Free Students Union. Talks between KU Vice Chancellor (VC) Ramkantha Makaju and the agitating students ended inconclusively on Tuesday.
Students affiliated with the ANNFSU padlocked the central and administrative buildings of the university, demanding to hold the election of Student Welfare Council.
Pujan Gautam, leader of the union, said that they had padlocked the university after VC Makaju cancelled the council election under pressure from the All Nepal National Independent Students Union-Revolutionary.
On December 23, the election was cancelled due to disputes between the rival student unions. (PR)
