At least nine people died in a bus accident at Madhya Nepal Municipality-5 in Lamjung district on Thursday. Nine other passengers were injured, some critically, in the crash.

The ill-fated vehicle (Na 6 Kha 4136) swerved off the rough road and fell some 400 metres at around 5pm, said police. The vehicle was headed for Jita from Damauli, the district headquarters of Tanahun. 

According to Deputy Superintendent of Police Shambhu Prasad Dhakal, all the nine passengers died on the spot.

Security personnel and locals reached the site to rescue the victims. “The injured were sent to Damauli Hospital for treatment,” police constable Krishna BK told the Post over telephone.

It is still not clear how many passengers were on board when the accident happened.
