Police have arrested one Manak Lama for his alleged involvement in the 2010 murder of Janakpur-based media entrepreneur Arun Singhaniya.
Manak, who was captured from Biratnagar on Friday, was presented to the Dhanusha District Court on Sunday. Police said he admitted to his crime during interrogation.
On March 30, Dhanusha police had filed a case against 11 people, including suspended lawmaker Sanjaya Kumar Sah, at the court, accusing them in Singhaniya’s murder case. Lama was at large then, police said.
Superintendent of Police Ramdutta Joshi, the murder case was filed against suspended lawmaker Sah, Manak, Chandradeep Yadav, Eklal Sahani, Om Prakash Yadav, Mukesh Chaudhary, Amshi Rain, Rambinod Yadav, Dipendra Kushiyat Yadav, Pawan Lama, Ramkaran and one more person whose identity has not been established yeat. Singhaniya, who was the chairman of Janakpur Today Communications Group, was shot dead at Shiva Chowk in Janakpur in March, 2010.
Eight criminal gang members arrested
BUTWAL: Eight suspected criminal gang members have been arrested from various parts of Rupandehi district. They were presented before the press in Butwal on Sunday. Shalikram Chapagain, Rajendra Dhamel, Urgen Gurung, Chitra Bahadur Gurung, Beniram Somai, Rabi KC of Devdaha Municipality and Rishiram Bhusal of Nawalparasi and Sanjog Nepali of Kaski were arrested for their involvement in various crimes, police said.
