Drought disrupts power supply

The district has not received enough rainfall for the past several months.
Local Sher Bahadur Rokaya said Maluwa Phadka Hydropower Project has failed to get enough water after water level in the river dipped by around five metres below the dam area.
Around 700 households of Mahabaipatarkhola are without electricity for the past six months.
There are two hydropower projects in the village, but they cannot produce enough electricity during winter and spring.
Power shortage has affected villagers of Kudu, Dhachu, Gaun, Machhi and Chiudi. With no electricity, locals here have not been able to charge their mobile phones.
Villagers are also reeling under acute water shortage of drinking water after the majority of water sources started to dry up.
