Maiyadevi handed over house and land worth Rs 80 million and Rs 20 million cash to the trust amid a function attended by Education Minister Chitralekha Yadav on Wednesday.
Maiyadevi donated had her house at Narayangadh bazaar, Bharatpur sub-metropolis-4 in Chitwan to the trust last year. “I have donated all of my properties in the name of the trust to provide service to all,” said an ailing Maiyadevi. “I have no hope to live more now.”
According to the general secretary of the trust Tankanath Paudel, Maiyadevi has donated Rs 120 million for running various social activities all over the country.
Born in Bandipur, Tanahun, Maiyadevi’s parents had left her to die by abandoning her near a bush immediately after her
birth, but her grandmother managed to rescue her and brought her up. Determined not to let anyone share a similar fate, she remained unmarried and has till now donated all of her properties to the welfare of the people.
The trust aims to provide service to Dalits, marginalised communities and single women.
