NC tells NSU to hold its convention in Sept
The Nepali Congress (NC) has directed its student wing, the Nepal Student Union (NSU), to conduct its 11th General Convention for three days starting September 14.
Ekantipur Report
The Central Committee of the union last month had recommended the mother party to endorse the date for the convention which had earlier been postponed for five times.
NC had urged the Union to make its convention a success by holding elections of lower-level campus units, district committees, and universities through democratic process on the designated time as per the work index, a press release said.
The election schedule published on Monday has planned the convention of public relation committees in foreign countries and convention of Kathmandu Valley campus for July 26 and district convention for August 5.
The bienniel event has not taken place since 2005 because of the disputes between two rival factions— one close to senior leader Sher Bahadur Deuba and the other close to party President Sushil Koirala. The party had formed a committee led by Ranjeet Karna in 2011 to hold the convention within six months. Karna, however, was unsuccessful even after two years of his appointment.
