Kathmandu

Sipradi Trading, the authorised distributor for TATA Motors in Nepal, is launching a campaign under which funds will be raised to sponsor needy children’s education.

The campaign titled “Test Drive for Education” will kick off on September 10 and will continue for next three months.

Under the campaign, TATA Motors will put three of its cars — Tiago, Bolt and Zest — on display on the premises of different schools in the Kathmandu Valley and allow visitors to conduct test drives. TATA Motors will then contribute Rs500 upon each test drive. “Test drives are open for pa- rents of school children as well,” said Hemanta Puranik, country manager of TATA Motors. “We are expecting a maximum of 150 test drives to be performed per day.”

Money collected from the test drives would be provided to concerned schools to aid their scholarship funds, Puranik said.

“The concerned schools will hold the right to provide scholarship to deserving students based on their own criteria,” he said. “We will create a mechanism to oversee whether the fund is being utilised properly.”
