Tara Subba, the mayor of Dharan Sub-Metropolitan City, died in Kathmandu on Tuesday. He was 52. Subba was admitted to Grande Hospital two weeks ago for kidney-related ailment.
He had contracted a severe case of pneumonia during treatment process, which led to his death. Subba had undergone a kidney transplant in India two years ago. He was also a patient of high blood pressure and diabetes.
Subba was born in Khamlalung village in Tehrathum district. He later migrated to Dharan where he began his political career.
He contested for the mayor’s post of Dharan from the then CPN-UML during last year’s general elections and emerged the victor.
Subba is survived by a wife and their son.
