The Kantipur Foundation, a philanthropic initiative of Kantipur Media Group, on Wednesday opened the nomination process for its ‘Kantipur Icon’ awards for 2074.

‘Kantipur Icon’ will be presented to Nepali or foreign citizens (either living or deceased), groups and institutions that have contributed significantly to help Nepal achieve prosperity, the foundation said in a statement.

Established in 2014 as its flagship CSR initiative, the Kantipur Icon will be presented to those who deserve recognition for their tireless work and dedication across four categories: arts and literature, business and economy, science and technology, and socio-political sector.

People willing to be part of the selection process can fill in online forms, send an email or postal mail, nominating people under four categories. Self-nominations are also permitted, the statement read.

“Winner of the Kantipur Icon award for each category will be selected by an independent five-member panel comprising eminent and respected professionals and members of the Kantipur Foundation,” it added. Each award consists of a gold medallion worth Rs500,000 will be presented amidst a ceremony marking the 25th anniversary of Kantipur Publications.
